Promotion of Downtown: Year-round Events

  • Recruit and establish partnerships with the City, Retailers, Services, Chamber of Commerce and Civic Clubs to sponsor joint events for Downtown Southport to enhance the visitor trafic year-round. Southport

  • Promote the uniqueness of the waterfront as the focal point for activities whenever possible

  • Build on current events and support serrvices to both local and tourist visitors to Southport, such as:

  • Waterfront market (farmers market with homegrown produce, baked goods, flowers & homemade crafts

  • Taste of Southport

  • Southport holi- Day

  • Southport Fall Festival

  • Spring Festival

  • Fourth of July

  • Transportation Shuttle services to and from the Southport Ferry Terminal & for local shuttle with established stops during the summer season

Promotion of Downtown Year-round events

  • The City has programs in various stages of development for the following activities:

  • Sidewalks

  • Trees and shrubs

  • Signage

  • Parking

  • Rest rooms

  • Power Lines

Using these programs as a starting point, DSI, after review of existing plans and timetables, can work with the Board of Alderman to establish priorities and provide task force support to these key efforts.
